For all my subscribers, Friday thought...
What I Know Now is…
When our kids are born, we spend nearly two decades preparing them to be independent. And when they finally get there, we’re proud… and maybe a little relieved.
But then something changes — we become grandparents. Suddenly, we find ourselves secretly wishing our kids weren’t quite so independent anymore. We want them to call, to lean on us, to “need” us again — only this time, it’s so we can soak up time with the grandkids.
It’s funny how the circle turns. Independence is exactly what we hoped for all along, but as grandparents, we can’t help but want just a little more dependence back in our lives.

P.S. Grandchildren may be life’s sweetest gift, but maybe the second-sweetest is getting a surprise call from your kids saying, “Can you help out with the baby?”
